Web 2.0 sites like Twitter, Squidoo, Facebook etc, plays a big part in your search engine optimization efforts. Submitting your website and RSS feed to Web 2.0 sites is a great way to drive traffic to your website and gain much needed backlinks.

The truth of some of the big sites like Hubpages is that the more Internet marketers abuse their system with promotions and affiliate links the more, Google starts devaluing links and content on those sites. That why it is important to stay one step ahead and keep finding new Web 2.0 sites that are rising up in popularity.

You have to take the right steps to ensure that more people and the right targeted people start visiting your blog. I have five easy ways to start seeing increased results right away.

1/ Blog Directories and Communities

Popular blog communities and directories such as mybloglog,
BlogCatolog, Technorati are a great way to showcase your blog, featured blog posts and your rss feeds. if you post a lot of content then you could end up with many featured posts which can really help you drive traffic to your blog.

2/ Rss Feeds
Great way to drive traffic to your blog is to create a FeedBurner account this allows blog owners the ability to manage their RSS feeds and track usage of their subscribers.

3/ Article Directories

Another way to get immediate increased traffic to your blog is by submitting original articles to the large article databases.

The most popular of these include EzineArticles, GoArticles and Amazines. This has a two pronged effect just like was mentioned above. You’ll have more incoming links to your blog, which directly increases traffic and indirectly increases traffic through improving your ranking in search engines. And you’ll establish yourself as an industry expert on whatever niche or topic your blog is about.

4/ Blog and Forum Commenting

By submiting comments on other blogs related to your niche you are establishing yourself as a knowledgeable member of a community and if done properly, an expert with valuable information to share.

Try and submit some of your comments to blogs or forums that is rank 4 or more, this does two things for you. For starters, it gets your link in more places, which can directly lead to more traffic and can also give backlinks to your blog this will improve your standings in the search engines.

5/ Social Bookmarking
Spend a few minutes posting your blog, blog posts and articles to high traffic sites like digg, delicious, mixx. These sites are just a small amount of the many bookmarking sites on the Internet. Its best to try and submit to as many as you can. While you should not post all of your articles to these sites, you want to post the ones you consider the best. A useful tool to social bookmark sites automatically is Onlywire

There are a few free social bookmarking sites and tools such as social marker , socializer and socialposter. The best social bookmarking tool I have used is onlywire. I came across onlywire three weeks ago when I was searching for a tool that would enable me to submit to bookmarking sites quickly. It took roughly 40 minutes of my time to setup all my accounts for bookmarking and install the plugin for mozilla firefox or internet explorer.

The benefit of this service is the ability to bookmark your site within one click to gain immediate exposure and backlinks for your website. The service is free, but you can get a paid service which is ad free, fully-supported by paying $2.99 per month or prepaying for 1 year ($24.99).

What I like about Onlywire is the different ways you can use it to distruibuted your content. You can use onlywire by using the browser plugin or Onlywire wordpress plugin.

Once you have installed the brower plugin or wordpress plugin, you would need to setup your accounts for bookmarking there are 30 social bookmarking accounts in total, but you dont need to do all of them if you don’t want too.

Once you have submit to onlywire, you will receive a report to your email. This will show you which bookmarks have successfully submitted and which bookmark require your attention. I strongly recommend anyone who are interested in getting more web exposure and backlinks to use this onlywire service.

As you know the biggest hurdle people face in their online business, is knowing how to drive targeted traffic to their websites. Without traffic, no one will be visiting your website, no one will purchase your product or service, quite frankly no one will know your online business exist.

Tracking Your Website Traffic

In the training modules Dean Holland discuss the importance of tracking traffic that is coming to your website, so you can see what traffic methods are working and to adjust your traffic strategies accordingly. The wordpress plugin that I use to track my traffic is Google Analyticator. Google Analyticator has features that I find useful such as a dashboard widget that displays a graph of the last 30 days of visitors, summary of site usage, the top pages, the top referrers, and the top searches. Google Analyticator also integrates well wth Google analytics.

As you can see from the screenshot Google Analytics gives you detailed reports of visitors, traffic sources, content pages look at, keyword analysis etc.. all of this imformation can be use to give you an idea of which keywords are popular to use, the best content to add on your website, the best social media, forums, blog sites to add your posts too etc…

Free Traffic Methods

Currently their are free and paid ways of driving targeted traffic to your blog or website. The main focus of this module is how to utilise the free methods to your advantage to drive targeted traffic to your site. Here are some of the free methods to drive traffic:

Search Engine Optimization
Using targeted keyword phrases in your blog title and continuously in your posts can also help drive traffic to your website.
